Children's Food Advertising Act: far-reaching ban on advertising for food containing fat, sugar and salt?
According to the current draft of a law to protect children from advertising for food with a high sugar, fat and/or salt content, advertising aimed at children for these foods is to be extensively banned. According to several surveys, the current draft would affect around 60% to 70% of all foods, as well as almost all advertising media. Every company in the food and advertising industry, as well as retailers, would therefore be well advised to monitor the proposed legislation closely and prepare for bans on advertising aimed at children in particular.
