SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz advises insolvency administrator Tobias Wahl on the sale of the business operations of insolvent Volocopter GmbH

SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz, with a team led by partners Thomas Oberle and Dr. Martin Kolbinger, provided comprehensive insolvency and transactional advice to the insolvency administrator of Volocopter GmbH, Tobias Wahl, on the sale of the business operations of Volocopter GmbH to Austrian Diamond Aircraft. The sale was the result of a structured investor process.

Volocopter GmbH, based in Bruchsal, developed electric VTOL air taxis (“Vertical Take-Off and Landing”) for passengers as well as cargo drones. The company filed for insolvency at the end of December 2024. The sale of the business by the insolvency administrator took place a few days after the opening of the insolvency proceedings at the beginning of March. Prior to the insolvency, Volocopter GmbH employed almost 500 people.

Diamond Aircraft is an Austrian aircraft manufacturer that belongs to Chinese Wanfeng Aviation Industry. Diamond Aircraft intends to complete the development of the Volocopter and obtain air traffic approval.
